Animal Assisted Play Therapy Level 2 Training at Turn About Pegasus in Northumberland

Last week, I spent four days in beautiful Northumberland for the next stage of my training to become a Certified Professional Practitioner in Animal Assisted Play Therapy® (AAPT). Cassie joined me for the trip, and we met some wonderful people and their dogs along the way. Arlo and Cosmo were her training pals! It was a warm, welcoming group, and the connection between everyone, human and animal, was at the heart of the work.

Carolyn’s Assisted Play Therapy Dogs Obi and Cassie

Obi and Cassie are Carolyn's two friendly Cockapoos, and they play a gentle but powerful role in the therapy room as Animal Assisted Play Therapy™ (AAPT) dogs. Their calm, friendly temperaments allow them to work therapeutically with children and families, offering comfort, connection, and emotional safety.

Connective Parenting Conference 2025

At the 2025 Connective Parenting Conference, Sarah Fisher and I explored the critical brain–body link in parenting—using breathwork and creative regulation techniques to stay present with our children (and ourselves!). We also tackled navigating the education system for kids with additional needs. Plus, I led in-person NVR training at a local primary school, equipping teachers with calm, relationship-focused strategies for lasting behaviour change.
