Steps to Connection spent time in July at a yoga, dance and movement retreat in the beautiful Lake District.

It was an opportunity to both connect and strengthen our professional relationship whilst immersing ourselves in our own self-care. It can often be difficult to find those moments of rest and we often talk with our families about the notion of the pause, so we thought we would take this opportunity for our own pause.

Yoga reminds us to be mindful and connect to our breath and the experience we had from @a2bhavenretreats gave us the opportunity for a shared experience, and the partnership elements to the yoga offer not only made us giggle but meant we had the opportunity to connect and build trust, if you ever have the opportunity to experience Acro yoga, take it!

There were also opportunities to enjoy all the Lake District has in respect of water sports and the paddle board to the little island was such a beautiful experience.

The dance element of the retreat offered us the opportunity for fun and spontaneity and to move our bodies, it allowed us to let go of some of the pressures of work and simply enjoy each other’s company which we know will have a positive affect on our working relationship and of course connection.

We met new friends and connected to women whom we had met on our professional journey, we laughed and ate good food, and the sun shone, mostly!

Prioritising self-care is for both of us in our busy lives a non-negotiable, and we encourage our families to find moments of this in their own parenting journey.

Big thanks to Bethany Demelza and Arnie, we hope that we can collaborate in the future to offer or families some well-being days.
