As the mother of two adoptive daughters whom Ingrid has supported, I cannot properly thank, nor more highly recommend her . She can walk into any situation, calm or calamity, and adjust to the needs of the moment, throw out the session plan and just get down to the business on the table today!
My oldest daughter was struggling over and above normal adolescent issues. Her sense of self and identity was disorganised; her needs overwhelming, her behaviours destructive, and our family was at risk of a significant breakdown.
Through Life Story work, Ingrid was able to support not only our daughters, but the entire family in understanding the uniqueness of who we all were and how events both before we became a family, and afterwards had shaped how we saw ourselves, and the way we interacted with each other.
As a skilled professional with vast experience working with children suffering trauma and attachment related difficulties, Ingrid was able to support us in advocacy attending school meetings, helping staff understand our children’s needs and providing training where they were willing. She pointed us toward courses and training where we could acquire better understanding and an increased range of strategies for managing child-to-parent violence and develop means for balancing the needs of everyone in the family.
Ingrid just has this aura of caring and nurturing acceptance! This ..and little unicorn magic.. helped my younger daughter to rise up, to find her voice, and to begin to advocate for herself and her needs both at home and at school.
Life Story…life changing! The journey continues and we remain a family, thanks to Ingrid !
