We have had a wonderful experience attending the Master Events Oxford 2024 Conference – the largest Trauma, Mental Health and Wellbeing conference in Europe.
We were lucky enough to attend talks by Keynote Speakers Gabor Mate, Bessel van der Kolk, Janina Fisher, Licia Sky, Dan Siegel and Richard Schwartz amongst many other incredible names. Both of us had absolute “fangirl” moments where it was amazing to be in the room with the actual people who wrote books that we refer to in our work with clients. Carolyn always loves seeing Dan Seigel doing his “hand brain model” in real life!!!
Alongside inspiring talks and workshops there were special activities to support wellbeing throughout the week. The Sound Bath sessions were particularly relaxing at the end of the busy day. We also both discovered new ways of incorporating movement into our sessions with clients.
Networking with other attendees was an important part of our time in Oxford. We made new friends and even went to a Comedy Club! All of these conversations have given us added depth to our practice and we appreciated meeting such interesting people. The night that we attended the Formal Dinner at Christchurch College was a night to remember and we were lucky to sit with a group of interesting women. One special person we met is already coming to see us for Holland in a few weeks.
We each had our favourite moments – Carolyn’s was seeing Bessel Van der Kolk talking about Neurofeedback and Ingrid’s was the amazing moment that she gave a gift to Gabor Mate which he received with pleasure and a smile.
To spend time in such a beautiful place, learning, listening and connecting with other practitioners was a joy. We have booked again for next year and already can’t wait!
