Supporting Families Through Connection and Community
Steps to Connection (STC) provides safe, compassionate spaces for parents and carers of neurodivergent children to come together, share experiences, and support one another.
Their in-person support groups offer a valuable opportunity for families to build real-life connections after meeting through online workshops and events.
In this short video, Carolyn & Ingrid from the STC team, reflect on the impact of these gatherings. They highlight how families who were previously strangers have formed meaningful friendships—offering everything from emotional support to practical help, such as attending school meetings together or even helping each other at home.
The support groups are informal, welcoming, and free to attend. Held on Saturdays, they typically bring together around 14 families, with tea, coffee, and biscuits always on hand to help create a relaxed, nurturing atmosphere.
STC’s work is grounded in empathy and community. These sessions aren’t just about sharing stories—they’re about building lasting networks of support among families who truly understand one another.
